EDWARD M. PECARSKIE

Born: September 23, 1944

Died: April 9, 2013

Beloved son of the late Maxie and Annie Pecarskie. Dear brother of Ursula, Sylvester, Beatrice, Georgine, Jacqueline, Patrick and Michael. Edward was predeceased by brother Stanley and his sister Dorothy.

Passed away March 29, 2013, Wilno, Ontario

 

Dear husband of Shirley (nee Etmanski) for 47 years. Caring father of Marian (Rodger), Quade, Sandra (Roger) Recoskie, Christopher (Kathy), Brian (Tina) and Vincent (Alison). Grandfather to Nicole (Barret) O’Brien, Tomika, Colton, Jennifer (Quade); Gwen and Brenda (Recoskie). Great Grandfather to Joseph, Allana, Devon, Matthew and Jamie Lee. Survived by siblings Jean Hudder, Mark, Clemence (Stacia), Theresa (John) Bray, Anna Mary (Philip) Kubisheskie, (MJ) Michael-John (Marilyn), brother-in-law Donald Etmanski, and sister-in-law Rose Marie Narducci. Predeceased by his parents Stephen and Anne (nee Yantha), his siblings Ursula, Mary Ann, Benedict and Celestine (Sally), his brothers-in-law Leo Hudder and Angus Etmanskie and his children James and Daphne.

 

STELLA YARASKAVITCH,

 

 

of Combermere, passed away peacefully at the Water Tower Lodge on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Stella was born in Ottawa on June 26, 1930, and married Max Yaraskavitch on June 25, 1949. Together, they settled in their home in Combermere, where Stella remained until her move to the Water Tower Lodge this February. Max predeceased her on June 7, 1980. He and Stella raised five children, Doreen (Frank Butcher), Donald (Anne-Marie), Arne (Anne), Kevin (Rhonda) and Michael (Connie). She was also the proud grandmother of Steve Butcher (Christine), Erin Harper (Eric), Andrew, Megan and April Yaraskavitch, as well as great grandmother to Trina, Travis and Sylvia Butcher and Reid Harper. Stella was well known in the community for her commitment to her faith, family and friends. She was a lay minister, Eucharistic minister, and sacristan over the years at Holy Canadian Martyrs Church in Combermere. She spent many hours in prayer in the Adoration Chapel and was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League and the Sacred Heart League. Stella had a special place in her heart for the sick and suffering. She always prayed for and visited those who were ill, often visiting the hospital on a regular basis. In turn the support she received from her community during her own illness was overwhelming and such a comfort to her and her family. One of her last requests to her family was that we thank on behalf all those who supported her in any way. She was truly grateful!

Stella was renowned for her ability to grow and arrange beautiful flowers. Her home gardens were admired by all who passed by. Her lovely arrangements graced many places and events over the years and she was the recipient of a number of horticulture awards for her green thumb skills.

Stella also volunteered in a number of capacities in her community, including Community Support Driver for Barry’s Bay Home Support. In 1997, she was delighted to be awarded the Radcliffe Township Senior of the Year Award for her volunteer hours.

Stella’s family wish to express their sincerest gratitude to all who cared for and supported mom until her passing. Thanks to all her friends and family, area clergy who visited and prayed, Doctor Harris and his staff, Lorraine’s Pharmasave, Jane Dickerson and Nurse Pattie Stewart and support staff from Community Care Access Centre, Karen Wagner and the lovely Madawaska Valley Hospice Palliative Care volunteers, St. Joseph House/Madonna House, Mecca from Hudson House, Beverly Rose Home Baking, Shawn O’Reilly, Father Linius, Shirley McLean, Tim Baklinski, the altar servers and pallbearers, the Sacred Heart League and Holy Canadian Martyrs’ CWL.

A very sincere special thanks to Marianne and all her staff at the Water Tower Lodge who worked with and supported Stella. Her final days were filled with superb care, compassion and dignity.

The family of the late MACK OLSHESKIE would like to thank Dr. Dawes, Dr. Lilka and Dr. George Chiok, Dr. Mahoney and Dr. Kendall for their many years of care, and the staff of SFMH for their kind and generous care provided to him while in the hospital. Thank you to Shaun and Cheryl O’Reilly at the O’Reilly Funeral Home for their care and compassion shown to the family during our loss. Thank you to Fr. Shalla, Fr. Hattie, Fr. Coulas, Fr. DENNIS WAYNE CARMODY

 

 

 

On Sunday January 13, 2013, while spending the winter at his beloved home on the island of Dominica. Wayne, husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, was taken from us too soon at the age of 60 years. Wayne will be terribly missed by his wife of 31 years and best friend Lynne (nee Bubnich) his children Lia and Mitchell, his mother Dorilla, his brother James, and sisters Mary Anne Smallwood (Sandy), Colleen (James MacLaren), Sandra (Kirk Robinson). He will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews, along with Lynne’s parents Michael and Shirley Bubnich, her sisters Gale Anthony (Des) and Debra Brown (Larry), and brother Steve Bubnich (Catherine). Wayne was predeceased by his father Dennis Carmody. Wayne will also be forever remembered by his many steadfast friends and co-workers who faithfully stood by him and his family throughout the years. As a proud member of the Ontario Provincial Police, Wayne loyally served his fellow citizens as an officer in Ottawa, Moose Factory, and in Killaloe, where he finally retired in 2003. As strong as his dedication was to his family, his friends, and to his community, so too was his dedication to his love of hunting and fishing. Early retirement allowed Wayne the precious opportunity to spend time canoeing and fishing on his “secret” lakes in Algonquin Park, hunting, and cooking gourmet meals with good friends, and spending his summers around a bonfire at his family cottage on Black Bay. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Killaloe on Saturday January 26th, 2013 at 11am, with a reception to follow in the parish hall. Arrangements have been made with the professional help of Zohr Family Funeral Home, Killaloe, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to “Family Helping Family” campaign at the St. Francis Memorial Hospital Foundation, Barry’s Bay. MINTHA, SUSAN JULIANA passed away peacefully at St. Francis Memorial Hospital, Barry's Bay, ON on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 in her 84th year. Beloved wife of Maxie for 56 years. Dearest mother of John (Laurie) Pembroke, Peter (Wendy) Innisfil, Noreen (Gilles) Gatineau, and Andrew (Connie) Barry's Bay. Cherished grandmother of Amanda (Eric), Jason, Joshua (Katie), Jonathan, Jeffrey (Shayna), Kristopher, Nicholas, Alexandra, Laura, Emily and Stephanie. Great-grandmother of John, Taylor and Damian. Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Martha Yandernoll and sister Annie Peplinskie (late Peter). Left to mourn are her brothers Sylvester (Johanna) and Raymond (Nancy) and sisters Esther Smaglinskie (late Edward) and Theresa Peplinskie (late Ephrem) and many nieces and nephews.

Her family would like to thank Dr. Dawes, all the nursing and support staff of St. Francis Memorial Hospital and clergy for the wonderful care that she received.
